Smart Art Gallerie's latest RA introductions:

Smartart are proud to announce that we will be displaying six new Royal Academy artists.

Sir Peter Blake - best known for his design of the sleeve for the Beatles' album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Bruce McClean - a Scottish performance artist and painter. He has gained international recognition for his paintings, ceramics, prints, work with film, theatre and books. McLean is Head of Graduate Painting at The Slade School of Fine Art London. He has had numerous one man exhibitions including Tate Gallery in London, The Modern Art Gallery in Vienna and Museum of Modern Art, Oxford. In 1985 he won the John Moores Painting Prize.

Rolf Harris CBA, AM - the Australian/British musician, singer, composer, painter, and television personality we all know and love. Harris moved to England as an art student at City and Guilds Art School, Kennington, South London at the age of 22. Rolf turns 80 this year, in celebration, Smart Art Galleries will be displaying a number of limited edition prints.

Ruskin Spear CBA - Spear attended the local art school before going on to the Royal College of Art in 1930. Because he used a wheelchair due to childhood polio, much of his work focused on his immediate surroundings. He rendered the citizens of Hammersmith relaxing in and around the local pubs, theaters and shops. A retrospective of Spear's work was held at the Royal Academy in 1980. His work is represented in the Tate Gallery Collection.

Carel Weight CBA - studied at the Hammersmith School of Art and Goldsmiths College. his first solo exhibition was held in the Cooling Gallery in 1933 and later exhibited in some major London galleries and throughout the UK. Some of his work is owned by the Tate Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Leonard Rosoman - As well as exhibiting extensively in London and New York, Rosoman has also painted many murals including one for the Royal Academy of Arts restaurant (1986) and Lambeth Palace chapel ceiling (1988). His work is represented in many collections including the National Portrait Gallery, the British Museum and the Imperial War Museum, London where a retrospective of his work was held in 1989.
